Description
This comprehensive training is designed for yoga teachers and committed practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of restorative yoga and learn how to teach it safely, skillfully, and professionally.
Restorative yoga is a distinct modality that focuses on complete physical support, minimal effort, and sustained stillness to allow the nervous system to shift into deep states of regulation and repair. Unlike other slow or still practices, restorative yoga does not aim to stretch, challenge, or direct the body or mind. Instead, it creates the external conditions that allow relaxation to arise naturally.
Throughout this training, you will explore:
- What makes restorative yoga different from Yin, meditation, pranayama, Nidra, and other practices
- The physiology of deep rest and how support influences the nervous system
- Applied nervous system principles and a polyvagal-informed teaching lens
- The core principles of support, safety, and stillness
- How to use props skillfully to eliminate effort and increase comfort
- Trauma-aware teaching language and class facilitation skills
- How to sequence restorative classes for different needs and populations
- Contraindications and considerations for special populations
- How to confidently teach restorative yoga as a professional modality
